    • Personnel who are eligible for Teacher of the Year, or administrative personnel as defined in Section 1012.01(3)

    STEAM: Biology 2017-03-15 Outstanding New Biology Teacher Achievement Award
    • This award recognizes outstanding teaching (grades 7-12 only) by a "new" biology/life science instructor within his/her first three years of teaching (when nominated) who has developed an original and outstanding program or technique and made a contribution to the profession at the start of his/her career.

    STEAM: Science 2017-01-06 Shell Science Teaching Award
    • Nominees must be classroom teachers whose responsibilities include teaching science.

    • Nominees must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience (not including the current school year) as a teacher of science, and must teach in a private or public school in the United States, U.S. Territories, Department of Defense schools, or in Canada.

    STEAM: AP Biology 2017-03-15 The Kim Foglia AP Biology Service Award
    • This award recognizes an AP Biology teacher who displays a willingness to share materials, serves as a mentor to both students and professional colleagues, creates an innovative and student centered classroom environment, and exemplifies a personal philosophy that encourages professional growth as an AP biology teacher and member of that community.

    STEAM: Math and Science 2017-04-01 The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)
    • Teachers of mathematics and science (including computer science)

    • PAEMST is awarded annually to exceptional K-12 educators throughout the nation, alternating each year between K-6th and 7-12th grades (FY17 is for 7-12th grade)

    STEAM: Biotechnology 2017-03-15 The Ron Mardigian Biotechnology Teaching Award
    • This award recognizes a teacher who demonstrates outstanding and creative teaching of biotechnology in the classroom. The award may be given for either a short-term series of activities or a long-term integration of biotechnology into the curriculum.

    • The lessons must include active laboratory work and encompass major principles as well as processes of biotechnology.

    • Criteria for selection include creativity, scientific accuracy and currency, quality of laboratory practice and safety, ease of replication, benefit to students and potential significance beyond the classroom.

    Reading 2017-01-15 International Literacy Association Technology and Literacy Award
    • Educators in grades K–12 who are making an outstanding and innovative contribution to the use of technology in reading education.

    • A teacher who shows outstanding leadership in translating theory and current research into practice in developing content area literacy.

    Private Enterprise 2017-03-01 The Leavey Private Enterprise System Awards (by Freedoms Foundation)
    • The candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident employed full-time as an educator at an accredited American school (grades K-12), college or university.

    • The application must conceive and implement an innovative course, program or project which develops, among students, a deeper understanding and appreciation of the American private enterprise system.

    • The nominee's program, course or project must be operating or initiated during the previous academic year.

    Journalism 2017-03-01 National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year Program
    • The award committee is looking for the best in scholastic journalism.

    • Teachers who adapt their lesson plans to include the latest digital tools and techniques for storytelling; and high school media advisers who mentor students to create award-winning publications.

    • Applicants must have taught or advised high school media for at least three years and plan to continue in the following school year.

    • Teachers who only advise the yearbook or a literary magazine are not eligible.

    • Governor Scott’s annual Black History Month Excellence in Education Award Contest is open to all full-time educators in elementary, middle and high schools in Florida.
