Dear Volunteers:
Thank you for sharing your time, talents, and resources with the students of Collier County. As a school volunteer, you are a critical part of providing a quality education for all students. We can’t thank you enough for assisting our students as they persevere to achieve their goals. As a school volunteer, you would become an important part of providing a quality education for all students. As a mentor, tutor, or volunteer, part of your role will be to help the children you work with reach their untapped potentials. It will be harder to assist some children to achieve this than others because of their life circumstances. What can you do to help make the way for the child you help easier? How can you provide a way for the student to “pave his or her way to success”? As a mentor and/or tutor of students you could play an important role in making goals a reality for students. Consider this quote from the No Child Left Behind website: “Because of the NCLB Act…Community leaders and volunteer groups will have information they can use to rally their members in efforts to help children and schools that need the most help.”
The Volunteer Screening Process continues to be an extremely important part of our program. In today's world, we are constantly trying to provide a safe environment for our Collier students. If you are volunteering, you have recently been introduced to our new Fast Pass system. We will utilize the Fast Pass system in addition to a new “online application.
If you volunteer in the presence of staff members and do not have any coaching, overnight or clinic responsibilities, you are a Level I Volunteer. You are responsible for completing an online application and going through the Fast Pass system at your school and meet with the Volunteer Contact for Orientation. If you are a volunteer coach, overnight chaperone or clinic volunteer, you need to complete the Level I requirements and make an appointment for fingerprinting at the district office (377-0364). You may also make an appointment through the website at https://www.collier.k12.fl.us/hr/meetings/nav/joboffer.aspx
Please contact your school volunteer contact if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions to improve our program. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure you are recording your volunteer hours, as many schools' grant and award opportunities are based on community involvement. Thank you again for all of your service. We can’t thank our volunteers enough for assisting our students as they persevere to achieve their goals. Please join us “while you’re here, VOLUNTEER!”
Thanks for all you do for students,
Debra A. Ogden
