Awards and Recognition Programs !

Barron Collier High School recognizes the achievements of students during several programs.

Students of the Week: Students may be nominated by teachers for accomplishments in class or in activities. From these nominations, two students are chosen in each grade level each week as Students of the Week.

Students of the Month: The faculty chooses two students in each grade level from the list of Students of the Week as Students of the Month.

Students of the Year: At the end of the year, students who have been selected as Students of the Month complete an application for Students of the Year. Two students in each grade level are selected.

Golden Key Awards: Students who have made outstanding contributions to their school and community are asked to complete an application for the Golden Key Awards. Students in every grade level are selected based on these contributions. The selection occurs twice each year.

HOBY: The Hugh O’Brien Youth Foundation Leadership Seminars are available to sophomores. Applications are submitted by sophomores. A school committee selects a sophomore who has tremendous potential for leadership. This student will attend the seminar during the Spring of their sophomore year.

PRIDE: The Program to Recognize Initiative and Distinction in Education awards high school seniors for outstanding academic performance in mathematics, science, social studies, and writing.

End of Year Recognitions: Students are honored for a variety of achievements and distinctions in a homeroom-televised ceremony and in a special edition of the Cougar Chronicle. These formats provide a broad audience to recognize the accomplishments of our students.

Century Club Dinner: This "Night of 100 Stars" recognizes the top twenty-five students in each grade level determined by their cumulative grade point average. Students and their parents are invited to attend a dinner sponsored by BCHS and community organizations.

Awards Night: Students who have received awards for various types of accomplishments are recognized on Awards Night. This includes scholarships that students receive, book awards that are presented to outstanding juniors and awards for participation in athletics or community service.
