In this class we will look at the demanding issues that the United States must face in the 21st century. During the Cold War the world was divided between three groups of states; States who were backed by the United States, States that were backed by the U.S.S.R and States who were backed by the Peoples Republic of China. For a period of time after the Cold War many people saw the fall of the Soviet Union as an opportunity to assert the United States in a role of "Sole World Power."

September 11th 2001, China and terms like Globalization has changed global balance as once predicted. In this class we will try to parlay all these factors to come to an understanding where the United States stands in this new world.
