FAQs (Frequently asked questions):

How does a student become a member of the Spanish Honor Society?

I am the sponsor of the Naples High School Rocinante chapter of the National Spanish Honor Society.  In order for a student to become a member of this honor society, he or she must have at least a 3.5 grade point average for Spanish 2 Honors and Spanish 3 Honors and be enrolled in Spanish 4 Honors.  Native-speakers of Spanish who haven’t followed the normal sequence of courses may also be inducted once they are in level 4 or higher or by teacher recommendation if enrolled in Spanish for Spanish Speakers.

When is the induction ceremony?

The induction ceremony is held only once a year, in mid September. Students will receive a letter of invitation.  One-time dues are $10, which include the official certificate of the national honor society.

When does the society meet?

TBA.

What does the Spanish Honor Society do?

The Spanish Honor Society raises funds through car-washes and an annual candy sale to give one or two scholarships to outstanding Senior members of our society. The scholarships are awarded on Awards Night in May. We also contribute money each year for a special school-wide project.  Last year we gave money to support the purchase of bulletin boards.

Fund-raising for Realy for Life is a major event.

We also have parties and social events.

Students are expected to take part in the National Honor Society’s tutoring sessions held each day at lunch in building 2.
