Personal Information:
In 1968 I graduated from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa, with a B.A. in English and French. I taught in Eastern Iowa for 9 years. After working with mentally handicapped adults for 5 years, I moved to Clearwater, Florida, where I taught in private schools. In 1988 I moved to Collier County where I substitute taught until I was hired to teach ESE at Lely High School. During this time, I earned my Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) certification at USF in Fort Myers. I transferred to Naples High School in 1993.
Courses:
ESE Learning Lab: prerequisite is an ESE IEP
Objectives:
The purpose of the Learning Lab (Content Mastery Lab) is to provide accommodations found on ESE students' IEP's. Accomodations may include editing assistance on writing assignments; reading assistance; quiet test environment; extra time to complete tests; or listening to books on tape.
TEXTBOOKS AND VIDEO REQUIREMENTS:
Students bring materials from their academic classes.
REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS:
An ESE IEP; need for accommodations.
