Course Name: Instrumental Technique
Class Music: Belwin Intermediate Band Method
This course is designed to cover the musical needs of beginning and intermediate instrumental musicians. The study of basic music theory, rhythmic counting, scale study, and instrumental technique will be taught in each class period.
Weekly performance tests will be given and recorded to be averaged into a mid-term and nine week final grade.

Course Name: Jazz Ensemble I-IV
The purpose of this class is to provide students with an introduction to styles and performance techniques of contemporary popular music and jazz literature. Focus and emphasis is placed on tone production, improvisation, rhythmic concepts, and music theory.
Grades will be based on the performance of assigned music, scale tests, and written jazz theory.

Course Name: Eurhythmics I-IV
The purpose of this class is to provide students with instruction in the development of skills in the performance of body movement in rhythm with a musical accompaniment. Focus will be on knowledge and application of flag and equipment use, dance movements and terminology, and choreography.
Grades will be based on the performance of learned routines and attendance at required functions.

Course Name: Symphonic Band
The purpose of this course is to provide instruction in the application of musicianship and technical skills through the study of varied band literature. Focus will be on the performance of medium to difficult level band music. Because of the emphasis placed on the mastery of advanced musical skills, some after-school sectional work is required.
Grades are based on daily class participation, the performance of music, the 12 major scales, and attendance & participation at scheduled rehearsals and performances.
Concert attire will consists of dress black shoes (closed toe), blacks socks, dress black pants (not cargo or jeans), and a plain long sleeved, collared white shirt.

Course Name: Concert Band
The purpose of this course is to provide instruction in application of musicianship and extend skill development in tone production, performance techniques and musical literacy. Focus will be on music in the medium to medium easy level. This course does not require any formal after-school practices.
Grades are based on daily class participation, the performance of music, and attendance & participation at scheduled rehearsals and performances.
Concert attire will consists of dress black shoes (closed toe), blacks socks, dress black pants (not cargo or jeans), and a plain long sleeved, collared white shirt.
