Congratulations to Gulf Coast High School students Blake Anderson and William Pembleton for theri first place win in the Congressional App Challenge. Their app, Deepstone, helps students manage their classwork by creating classes and assignments to keep track of.

More than 2,100 students across 33 states participated in the app challenge, which encourages students to learn how to code by creating their own applications. The Congressional App Challenge hopes to engage students in STEM fields and show the value of computer science.

The winners of the challenge were chosen by local technology and STEM leaders. Twenty-one students from three schools in the 25th congressional district submitted apps. Deepstone will be available to download on Android devices in 2017.
