Welcome to Big Cypress Elementary. I am honored to have the opportunity to be the school’s principal.
I am originally from Chicago and I have spent the past several years in Collier County as a civics teacher, a team leader, and an Athletic Director. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan—Ann Arbor, a Master of Educational Leadership from American College of Education, and a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University’s School of Law—Bloomington.
One of my goals is to serve and to work with students, teachers, and the community in nurturing student achievement. Big Cypress has a remarkable reputation for creating a positive atmosphere for student success and I am glad to be a part of this amazing school and staff. Simply put, I am proud to be a Bobcat! It is such a joy to be a part of the Big Cypress family as your Assistant Principal. I am originally from West Virginia where I attended school at West Virginia State University. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in education Pre-K through 6th grade and have a Masters in Education Leadership from Mary Washington University in VA. During my 23 year career, I have taught kindergarten, 2nd-5th grade, gifted, an all boys class, and was the manager of Parent Institute at the district office. I was the Assistant Principal of Parkside Elementary before coming to Big Cypress Elementary in 2020.
I am so excited to get to know each and every Bobcat this year and set our Wildly Important Goals for our school, classrooms and for each one of us through the Leader in Me School Improvement Model. Today and Everyday is always a good day to be a BOBCAT!
