The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates the school's commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character – the four pillars that create the foundation of the organization. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.
- What is NHS? NHS is an academic service organization which focuses on promoting and rewarding character, service, leadership, and scholarship. It is one of the most prestigious organizations a high school student can join.
- Who Can Apply? Current sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are not already members.
- What are the qualifications?
- Scholarship: Students MUST have (and maintain) a 3.9 weighted GPA.
- Service: Students MUST have already documented or provide support for 20 service hours.
- Character: Students must have exhibited good character throughout high school. This would be reflected in a relatively clean discipline record. This will be verified with administration.
- Leadership: Students must document two (2) instances of exhibited leadership. One of the instances must have occurred as part of a high school organization or class. The other can be an “in-school” example or it could have occurred as part of an outside organization.
