  • Who is involved in determining boundary modifications and what factors are considered?

    Posted by:

Stakeholder participation is essential in the attendance boundary modification process. To determine if a boundary adjustment is necessary, CCPS staff analyze several factors, including current and projected enrollment, facility utilization, special programs (such as Exceptional Student Education and PreK programs), class size reduction requirements, school feeder patterns, and student reassignment data. Representatives from various departments contribute to the development of proposed attendance boundary maps, including District Leadership, Student and Staff Projections, Allocations, and Reporting (SSPAR), Transportation, School Leadership, Teaching and Learning, and other departments as needed. Additionally, the Attendance Boundary Review Team includes a School Board liaison.

  • If your attendance boundary changes, are you able to request another school of enrollment?

    Posted by:

CCPS will continue to offer parental choice options that will allow parents the ability to request another school for enrollment outside their assigned geographic attendance zone. The availability of specific schools is based on capacity and class size restrictions. Additional information on parental choice options and processes can be located online at the following link: Parental Choice.

  • Will the students be able to remain (i.e., be grandfathered) in their current school?

    Posted by:

School Board Policy 5120.02 allows rising 11th and 12th graders to remain at their existing schools. No transportation will be provided by the District. All other students who are rezoned must attend their newly assigned schools. All enrollees new to the District must attend the zoned school or apply as described below.

Students affected by the rezoning may apply for an Out of Zone approval or School Choice through the provisions of School Board Policy 5120 and Policy 5120.01. Decisions on those applications will be made in accordance with the provisions of those policies.

The availability of District-provided transportation is determined by the distance between the student’s home and school. If the student’s address is within two (2) miles of the school and the walking route is considered non-hazardous, transportation will not be provided. Otherwise, eligible students are assigned transportation services. For more details, please visit the  Transportation homepage.
