    BC Nation,

A huge congrats to the Class of 2020. Yesterday we formalized their completion of high school with the virtual program of their commencement. Special thanks to all those that helped with this process and making this possible. The commencement will be live indefinitely on the district website located at https://www.collierschools.com/Page/13963. If you desire, you can click on the top right corner of the video and download a copy to your personal device or storage.
We have come to the end of the 2019-2020 school year. It has been an honor to serve as principal this year. Our hope is that we can return to 'normal' operations in the fall and have the personal interactions between staff and students in order to provide the best opportunity for student success, both in the classrooms and other arenas.

The school campus is still closed at this time, but we are available through emails and phone messages. If you have questions regarding scheduling, please monitor our BC Website and contact administration and/or counselors if needed.

Please enjoy your summer break and stay safe during this unprecedented time.

    Proud to be your Principal,

    Mr. Jon M. Bremseth

    Seniors,

The Class of 2020 is facing an unprecedented season of change due to COVID-19 (coronavirus), which has led to the modification or cancellation of the spring schedule, including many hallmark moments of the high school experience. We recognize graduation is the culmination of a student’s academic journey and a time to celebrate with family and friends. Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) also has an emotional investment in making sure our seniors are honored and celebrated. The act of walking across the graduation stage is unmistakably meaningful to all of us: students, their families, school and district staff, and the community. Given the state of our county and country, we recognize traditional commencement ceremonies will not happen on May 29 as previously planned.

In the email you received from the District, information was provided regarding plans for a Virtual Ceremony as well as plans for an in-person ceremony later this year.  To accomplish this, we will be completing the following activities as we prepare for the virtual ceremony.  This will also allow us to distribute items to you (Senior Yard Sign, Yearbook, etc.) and collect any items you have to return to the school (library books, sports equipment, etc.). Details for these events are provided below.  Some dates are tentative or still have to be set but that will come to you in additional communication in the next week(s).

Cap & Gown Distribution: Monday, May 4th from 9 am - 1 pm.

Senior Cap & Gown Pictures:  Friday, May 8th from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.    Times for each graduate will be delivered during cap & gown pickup.

Senior Speeches and Commencement Program:  Speech recordings and video of the Class of 2020 presentation will be Monday, May 11th for selected individuals.

Senior Awards Ceremony: Recording of the awards will be completed on Thursday, May 14th to be shown at a later date to be announced.

Diploma, Yearbook Pickup & Item drop-off:  TBA (we will announce this date(s) at a later time.)

Seniors, please know that we understand this is not the graduation and recognition that you desire or deserve.  In these unique times, we are making an effort to provide a special and meaningful conclusion to your senior year and high school experience.  BC Nation has been thinking of you and understands how special you are to our school community. We will do everything we can to convey those sentiments in our modified end-of-year events.

We will be distributing Cap & Gowns on Monday, May 4th from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.  The distribution will be as follows:

    Last name A - D:  9:00am - 10:00am

    Last name E - K:  10:00am - 11:00am

    Last name L - Q:  11:00am - 12:00pm

    Last name R - Z:  12:00pm - 1:00pm

As part of the distribution, you will be taking care of other school-related items.  You will be responsible for paying all outstanding fees & fines to BCH and/or CCPS. You will drop-off any athletic gear (uniforms, equipment, etc.). You will pick up your Senior Yard Sign and then be issued your cap & gown for graduation.

You will stay in your car during the visit to BCH.  I have attached a map to help direct you to the drop-off and pickup locations. As you enter from Cougar Drive, you will proceed in front of the school through the car drop-off line.  The first stop (green spot) will be Fees & Fines payment location.  You can turn in old textbooks, media center books, pay for ID's, or any other misc items.   You will proceed to the next stop (Yellow spot) to drop-off any athletic gear and equipment.  You will place items in a bag, or bring your own garbage bag full with your name attached.  Your coaches will mark off all turned in items.

The next stop (purple) is where you will pick up your Senior Yard Sign.  These are the signs made by the district for you to display in your yard or home window. The last stop (Barron Blue) is for Cap & Gown pickup. Representatives from Herff-Jones will be there to help distribute and verify your Cap & Gown are the right size.

To help with this process, please print your last name in large lettering on a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and display it in the passenger window of your vehicle.

Please make sure to have all items for drop-off with you.  Share this information with your fellow classmates to help with the efficiency of this process.

    See you Monday, May 4th,

    Mr. Bremseth

  • Congratulations to NAF Academies

Posted by Kristin Voit on 4/17/2020

Congratulations to all 24 CCPS NAF Academies for successfully completing the annual academy assessment and receiving Certified or higher. The assessment measures an academy’s strengths and challenges in implementing results-driven educational design that prepares students for success in college and careers. A very special congratulations to the 17 academies being recognized as either Model or Model/Distinguished, the two highest honors awarded by NAF for delivering high quality educational experiences for high school students. To receive this honor, not only does the academy have to provide evidence through an academy assessment, but they also host a NAF team for a site visit where the academy classrooms are visited, evidence is reviewed, and academy students, teachers, school administrators, district administrators, and NAF advisory partners are interviewed. Congratulations again to the following academies for being honored as Model or Model/Distinguished!

    Model/Distinguished Academies:

o   Barron Collier High School Academy of Engineering (Academy Director, Todd Roberts)

o   Barron Collier High School Academy of Finance & Entrepreneurship (Academy Director, Chris Huizinga)

o   Barron Collier High School Academy of Hospitality & Tourism (Academy Director, Sandy Diegel)

o   Barron Collier High School Academy of Information Technology (Academy Director, Neil Thorpe)

    Barron Collier Cougar Community,

Thought for the week, “Tolerance, compromise, understanding, acceptance, and patience. – I want those all to be very sharp tools in my shed.” – Cee Lo Green

All of these characteristics are tools that we will have to implement and use over the next however many days this continues to affect our lives.  Please treat each day and the ever-changing information and processes with an open-mind and level of understanding.  We must continue to be the voice of calm and reasoning in a world that seems to take the other perspective many times.
