With Commencement 2024 quickly approaching, it is time to make sure seniors are on track to fulfill requirements relating to Bright Futures Scholarships. Pay special attention to the fact that volunteer/paid work hours must be completed and submitted PRIOR to graduation. Final transcripts are FINAL, and Collier County Public Schools will not be able to alter a transcript following graduation, unless it contains an error.

The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program provides scholarships based on high school academic achievement. The program has different award levels, each with its own eligibility criteria. The Florida Academic Scholars receive an award amount equal to 100% of tuition and applicable fees. Florida Medallion Scholars receive 75% of tuition and applicable fees. |

Note the following Bright Futures requirements:
- Complete the required number of volunteer service or paid work hours (see chart, below)
- All hours must be completed and submitted to the student's school counselor prior to graduation.
- Graduate high school with a standard Florida high school diploma
- Complete the required high school coursework (see chart below)
- Minimum high school grade point average (GPA) based on 16 core course credits
- Florida Academic Scholars (FAS): 3.50 Weighted GPA
- Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS): 3.00 Weighted GPA
- Minimum score on either ACT® or SAT® college entrance exam by June 30, 2024
- Submit a Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) no later than August 31, 2024

Students are encouraged to consult with their school counselor if they have any questions. Opportunities await!
