The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program provides a variety of benefits for students and families. At Immokalee Middle School, the Miracle Afterschool Program (6YFN) operates on Mondays-Thursdays. Program hours are from 3:45PM-5:45PM and includes dinner. Transportation is also provided if you are unable to pick up your child. The grant for this program is overseen by the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County.
The program strives to provide the following benefits for students and families:
- Academic Support: Certified teachers and staff work with students to help them complete assignments and answer questions in Math, Science, Reading, or History.
- Enrichment Activities: Students engage in diverse enrichment activities such as art, gardening, leadership, and physical activities to foster creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.
- Safe and Supervised Environment: Students are monitored at all times by teachers and staff.
- Family Engagement: 21st CCLC programs offer support services to families, including parenting workshops, adult education, and family literacy programs.
- Increased Graduation Rates: By providing consistent academic and social support, the program helps students stay engaged in school, which leads to higher graduation rates and better long-term educational outcomes. Grades are monitored and students are encouraged to be proactive, are shown ways to be more organized, and are offered opportunities to learn how to put first things first.
- Cultural and Language Support: 21st CCLC offers tailored services. Some language support is provided to help students process content in their heritage language.
These benefits make the 21st CCLC program a valuable tool for fostering student success and supporting family and community development. More information can be found at: https://bgccc.com/programs/community-learning-centers/
