Physical Education - High School

CCPS Policy for High School Physical Education:
- Students in grades nine (9) through twelve (12) shall be required to earn a minimum of one (1) credit in physical education which includes Health.
- All games, sports, activities in the CCPS physical education curriculum will include emphasis on physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.
- The Florida Standards/Benchmarks will be met in accordance to the adopted physical education program.
- It will be the responsibility of each teacher to follow the CCPS physical education program that stresses physical fitness and encourages healthful, active lifestyles.
- The CCPS physical education program is designed to have students to participate in physical education on a moderate to vigorous level of physical activities (MVPA) for a duration of time in order to provide a significant health benefit to students, subject to the differing capabilities of students.
CCPS Expected Outcomes of the High School Physical Education Program:
- Students in PE electives grades 9-12 will maintain or improve their level of fitness as indicated by their pre and post-fitness test results.
- Students in PE electives grades 9-12 will be accountable for demonstrating competency in the course Standards/Benchmarks through completion of end of course written exam.
Availability of One-on-One Counseling Concerning the Benefits of High School Physical Education:- If any student is experiencing difficulty with physical activities in class please contact your child’s physical education teacher. The teacher will provide further opportunities that can support your child’s growth at home as well as at school.
- If there are nutritional needs or concerns with other areas of health such as mental health concerns, please notify your child’s school counselor as well and services can be provided to support your child’s needs.
- If your child grades drop to a D, student will be counseled and then parent and/or counselor will be notified of child’s lack of progress thereafter.
