    General Eligibility Requirements:
    Be a Florida resident - Earn a Florida standard high school diploma - Enroll in an eligible Florida post-secondary educational institution - Not been found guilty of or plead nolo contendere (no contest) to a felony charge – Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) after December 1 of senior year and prior to high school graduation - Seniors wishing to take advantage of mid-year eligibility must complete the FFAA by August 31 of their senior year

    3.5 weighted GPA in the 16 college preparatory credits identified by the Florida Board of Regents as MINIMUM entrance requirements.  Please see specific courses on next page.

    3.0 weighted GPA in the 16 college preparatory credits identified by the Florida Board of Regents as MINIMUM entrance requirements.  Please see specific courses on next page.

    3.0 weighted GPA in the 16 credits required for graduation AND a 3.5 unweighted GPA in a 3 credit vocational program (taken over two academic years).  Please see specific academic courses on next page.

    Terms of Eligibility

    100% of program of study up to 120 credit hours (extended hours for programs requiring more than 120 hours.  Funding available for up to five years from high school graduation.   Must receive funding within 2 years of HS graduation.

    STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE: After submitting the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) you are responsible for tracking application and award status online and keeping the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) informed of any demographic or institutional changes.

    Monitor YOUR OWN Bright Futures Eligibility:

    • Go To www.flvc.org
    • Click on My Records
    • Click on Bright Futures Scholarship Eligibility
    • Click ‘You must log-in with a Login ID.” Click on ‘Create Account’ if you do not have an account.
    • Answer all the questions.
    • FL Student Identifying Number is your social security number with an ‘x’ at the end.
    • Save your log-in and password. Your log-in is permanent.
    •  Remember: It is the student’s and parent’s responsibility to monitor progress toward Bright Future eligibility.

    16 COLLEGE PREP CURRICULUM (FAS, FMS):

    • 4 Credits English 
    • 4 Credits Math (Algebra I & Geometry required)
    • 3 Credits Natural Science (Biology plus 2 credits with substantial lab)
    • 3 Credits Social Science
    • 2 Credits World Language (sequential, in the same language or second year or above)

     

    16 CORE CREDITS FOR THE GOLD SEAL AWARD:
    • 4 Credits English 
    • 4 Credits Math (Algebra I & Geometry required)
    • 3 Credits Natural Science (Biology plus 2 credits with substantial lab)
    • 3 Credits Social Science (U.S. History, World History, .5 U.S. Government, and Economics)
    • 1 Credit Physical Education (to include integration of health)
    • 1 Credit Fine/Performing Art; OR Identified Practical Art; OR .5 credit in each
    14 CORE CREDITS FOR THE GOLD SEAL AWARD:
    • 14 core credits required to graduate from high school within three years (excluding Fine/Practical Arts and Physical Education)
