College Readiness Examinations
There are several exams that students can take to assess their college readiness status. The results of these exams can be used for college admissions and placement as well as for qualification of college readiness status for the state high school accountability measures. SATThe SAT is a globally recognized college admission test that lets students show colleges what they know and how well they can apply that knowledge. It tests students’ knowledge of reading, writing and math — subjects that are taught every day in high school classrooms. The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. The ACT Plus Writing includes the four subject area tests plus a 30-minute Writing Test. The purpose of Florida’s Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) is to adequately assess students’ academic skills in mathematics, reading and writing through the delivery of three assessments, one for each of these areas.
