    Lowest 25% Reading

    Based off of the 2017-18 results, GC was at 50% in our lowest 25% for reading gains.

    Gulf Coast would like to be at 62% in this category for this school year.

    Our reading coach will be concentrating her time with our intensive reading teachers in both 9th and 10th grade.   The re-introduction of the READ 180 program will also be a resource for the teachers.

    Geometry Gains

    A majority of the 300 points available in school grading will be from our Geometry sections. We currently have 29 sections of Geometry, compared to 5 sections of Algebra. We have broken down our courses based on gains needed as well as proficiency levels to help better meet the needs of students.

    Our goal is to increase the learning gains in Geometry in overall student and lowest 25% by at least 3%.

    We have created 6 sections of a double-blocked Geometry course with Informal and Regular Geometry. These are the students that have previously been double-blocked in math. We created a TSA position for one period to provide additional math support for our math tested areas.

    Biology

    We dropped 2% in overall proficiency in Biology from FY17 to FY 18 (86% - 84%).

    Our goal is to be over 90% in total proficiency.

    We have created a new science course, Integrated Science, to support students that were not ready to make the jump from Earth Space to Biology. We are also keeping the same co-teacher with these students that they had last year for continued ESE support. We have also created a TSA Science Coach position to give support to our Biology teachers during the school day.
