Academic WorldQuest |
Academic WorldQuest was invented by the World Affairs Council of Charlotte and is now widely played at the adult and high school levels around the country. It is a team competition testing competitors' knowledge of international affairs, geography, history, and culture. Participants come from high schools that work with the World Affairs Council network. |
High School Mock Trial |
The Collier County Mock Trial competition is sponsored by the Collier County Bar Association and the school district. Students in grades 9 - 12 may compete. Winning teams then compete in a regional competition sponsored by the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court and the winner of that event continues to compete at the State Level. The Collier County Mock Trial Program offers substantial scholarships to the winning students and has been held since 1983. |
Know Your County Government |
The Know Your County Government program teaches high school students (majority are juniors and seniors) the purpose and function of county government, how it operates, and what career opportunities it offers. Participation is through written application. Space is limited to 35 students. |
Laws of Life Essay & Speech Contest |
The "Laws of Life" program is a character building activity that helps young people focus on and develop positive character traits that lead to responsible citizenship and a successful life. The program is open to all student residents of Collier County who are enrolled in grades four through twelve. Over 3,000 students annually compete for a variety of honors and scholarships in four grade-level divisions. |
Model United Nations |
The Model United Nations program is open to students in grades 9 - 12 and is sponsored by Florida Gulf Coast University and the Naples Council on World Affairs. |
