" At Manatee Elementary, we believe high expectations yield academic success for all students and for the community as a whole. Be assured our entire staff is committed to ‘Leading the Way” to ensure that our Manatee students achieve academic excellence through becoming leaders of learning. As a parent, you are an essential link in your child’s education. The level of interest you show in your child’s education through Student-Led Conferencing, through school-wide events, and daily conversations about academic goals will demonstrate to them the value you place in their education. Please send your child to us each day rested and prepared, on-time, equipped with the proper materials, and encouraged. We, in-turn, will send them home to you prepared to meet the demands of the future. Your presence is not only welcomed, but it is greatly needed each and every day. We encourage you to join us as we lead the way to a successful year! The entire Manatee Elementary staff takes great pride in educating our students and will continue to teach our students to become leaders of their learning. "

Announcing the Sunshine State Reader Book List
& the Sunshine State Young Readers Book List
The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) Program a is a statewide reading motivational program for students in grades 3 through 8, in a collaborative effort between the Florida Association of Media in Education (FAME) and the Florida Department of Education (DOE). The purpose of the SSYRA Program is to encourage students to read independently for pleasure and to read books that are on, above, and below their reading level in order to improve their reading fluency. Sunshine State books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation.
Welcome to the newest reading award program sponsored by FAME: the Sunshine State Young Readers Award Jr. (SSYRA Jr)! The mission of the SSYRA Jr. program is to develop student interest in reading for pleasure by exposing them to a wide range of appropriate literature. Sunshine State Jr. books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation. Students are encouraged to listen to these books read to them, read them in a small group setting, or read independently to develop skills in fluency and comprehension. Students will be eligible to vote in the spring after listening/reading at least three of the books.
