Application for Instructional Materials Review Committee: Fine Arts Elementary Art
The Collier County Public School District will soon begin the process of reviewing instructional materials for Fine Arts – Elementary Art courses with the goal of making a recommendation for adoption during the 2015-16 school year. The new instructional materials will be utilized beginning in 2016-17. The Committee will consist of parent/community representatives, teachers, academic coaches, school and district administrators,
Committee MembershipThe committee will conduct the instructional materials review process aligned to state standards using objective criteria (rubrics), and will make an adoption recommendation based upon the objective evidence gathered during the process.
Responsibilities of Committee Representatives:
• Attend all scheduled meetings
• To vote on the instructional materials you must attend at least three out of the four or two out of the three if only three only meetings are needed.
• Serve as a communication link to the community
• Assist in reviewing instructional materials using objective criteria (rubrics)

For this committee, it is preferred reviewers have familiarity with elementary art curriculum, teaching practices and supplemental resources in the Visual Arts, FL standards in Visual Arts K-5, personal/professional art experience. Teachers: knowledge of CCPS Learning Goals & Scales, hold or be eligible for FLDOE Professional Teaching Certificate. Board policy 2520 states: expertise shall be understood to mean that a person serving on a committee has developed a skill and/or knowledge in the textbook adoption subject or content area based upon education and experience that would enable such a person to be able to form an opinion in the subject or content area that would assist in the committee’s review.It is important that the selection committee represents a wide range of skills, knowledge, experience, needs and interests. Parents on the committee must have a child currently enrolled in grades K-5 in the Collier County Public School District and be objective and passionate about student learning in Fine Arts – Elementary Art courses.The time commitment will be a minimum of 12-18 hours of face-to-face meeting time with additional time required outside the meetings to review instructional materials. We expect to hold 3 to 4 meetings to review and recommend the new materials.
