The hospital indemnity program allows employees to insulate themselves against high out-of-pocket hospital costs, or they can provide a financial cushion in the event of a hospital confinement. A perfect scenario for this type of product is the female employee who is looking to become pregnant. Regardless of her medical plan, she knows she will be admitted to the hospital for delivery. This policy provides the transition money, over and above any other benefits, directly to her. Another example is the employee with a high hospital deductible who can now provide supplemental hospital coverage to make up for their out-of-pocket expense.

This is a brief summary of highlighted benefits and is not deemed to be a contract of insurance. Please refer to the actual contract for complete details on all provisions.Pre‐existing Condition LimitationTrustmark does not pay for any loss due to a preexisting condition as defined during a 12 month period beginning on the date that person became a covered person. A Preexisting Condition is a disease or physical condition for which: symptoms existed within the 12 month period prior to the effective date of coverage; or medical advice or treatment was recommended or received from a member of the medical profession within the 12 month period prior to the effective date of coverage. A preexisting condition can exist even though a diagnosis has not yet been made. Those conditions will be covered if a new hospitalization occurs after 12 months from the effective date. However, pre-existing conditions are waived during the initial 2023 Open Enrollment or for new hires only.
