ANNOUNCEMENTS
All volunteer applications expire every June 30th. If you wish to volunteer during the 23/24 school year, please submit a new volunteer application by clicking the link "Apply to Volunteer" and follow the steps outlined below.
FRS Retirees: On July 1, 2023, 121.091, F.S. was amended authorizing employers to establish volunteer programs and establishing criteria for such programs relating to Florida Retirement System (FRS) retirees. FRS retirees applying to volunteer shall review and abide by 121.091, F.S. regarding eligibility to volunteer within the first twelve (12) months of retirement from FRS. Failure to abide by the criteria outlined in 121.091, F.S. could result in violating the requirement concerning termination of employment as defined in 26 C.F.R. s. 1.409A-1(h)(1)(ii). Please refer to the Volunteer Handbook for more information.

School-Based Volunteers
All prospective volunteers are required to complete an online volunteer application, present a valid US-issued photo ID, and review volunteer orientation materials to become eligible to volunteer. The prospective volunteer cannot participate in any volunteer activities until these steps have been completed and the application has been approved by the school.
Steps to become a school-based volunteer (New & Returning):
1. Apply to volunteer by clicking "Apply to Volunteer".
2. Contact the school's volunteer support contact to complete the following:
* Present valid US-issued photo identification at the school
* Complete Volunteer Orientation
3. The school's volunteer support contact will review and approve the application.
Overnight / Out-of-County Trips
If you will be participating in overnight or out-of-county trips, please contact the school's volunteer contact at least three (3) weeks prior to the trip to complete the necessary forms and fingerprinting requirements.
Charter School & Program Volunteers
The District partners with several local Charter schools, programs, and non-profit organizations to support the volunteer application and screening process. All prospective volunteers are required to present a valid US-issued photo ID to be eligible to volunteer. The prospective volunteer cannot participate in any volunteer activities until the application has been approved, the school, program, or organization has received a clearance (approval) email from the District office, and the volunteer has completed Volunteer Orientation.
The steps to become a new volunteer and to renew an expired application may vary from one program or organization to the next. Please contact the appropriate volunteer contact for assistance with the application process.
