Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! Along with stopping by some of our school campuses, I had the unique pleasure of kicking off the school year by visiting one of our virtual learning families on the first day of school. The Balan Family welcomed me into their home, where their son Alex (kindergarten) and daughter Adriela (2nd grade) started the school year learning via CCPS Classroom Connect. I loved being able to see young Alex start his academic journey in Collier County Public Schools learning virtually. The Balan Family also has two children learning on campus at Gulf Coast High School. This is a perfect example of how our instructional model options gave families the ability to decide what is best for their unique situations.
While our usual school and district events may look a little different this year, we look forward to a continued strong parent and community engagement. Schools will be offering creative and virtual ways to stay connected. Plus, for our committed volunteers, there are still ways that you can share your time and skills without being on campus. Check with your school for available opportunities.
Everyone plays a crucial role in helping to keep our #CCPSFamily healthy. Please continue practicing healthy habits at home, at school, and in the community. #COVIDStopsWithMe.
We are looking forward to a phenomenal 2020-2021 school year!
Sincerely,Dr. Kamela PattonSuperintendentTel (239) 377-0001
