SSYRA Program - The Sunshine State Young Readers Award Program

Students in grades 3-5 are invited to participate in the SSYRA Program.  As students read the 15 nominated books from the state selected list, they earn brag tags.  If they read three or more, they will get to vote on their favorite to determine the state winner.  If you would like more information about the selected titles, click here.  You can also click on the title displayed in the bitmoji library above for a book trailer.

  • Book Holds

At this time, we are offering concierge service in the Media Center for checkouts.  Students can put books on hold in Destiny Discover, and they will be delivered to the classroom the next day.  Students in Option 2 can also put books on hold and pick up at the school on Tuesdays from 10:30-12:00 or Fridays from 11:30-1:00.  Parents can just pull in front of the school in the car line and call the Media Center at 377-7910 or 377-7929 to let me know you are there for pick up, and I will bring them out to your car.

Destiny Discover can be accessed through Canvas Resources or by clicking here
Student login for Destiny Discover is the same as your regular computer login.

  • Sora and Overdrive

Students have access to over 16,000 ebooks and audiobooks purchased by CCPS Schools on Sora and Overdrive.  In addition, PME has purchased titles that are only available to our students thanks to our generous PTO.
Sora and Overdrive contain the same collection, but provide different features.  Sora is especially formatted for easy use and recommended for younger students.  Overdrive offers advanced search option choices such as lexile measure, interest level, and text difficulty.  Both provide an amazing selection of books students can download and read on their district provided laptop as well as on your own digital device on the free apps.

Sora and Overdrive can be accessed through Canvas Resources.  If you are using the app, you must search for Pelican Marsh Elementary (CCPS Schools) and then you will login with your regular school computer login.
