BOUNDARY MODIFICATION

  • Golden Gate Elementary Boundary Modification

Golden Gate Elementary School (GGE) has a deep history in our community. It opened in 1974 and the south
building was added in 2004 which created a split campus.

Currently, the north building serves students in PreK through grade 2, and the south building serves students in grades 3 through 5. About 90 families have siblings who attend both school sites. The split campus presents many challenges: pick-up and drop-off for car riders, distance for walkers, parking, and attendance at school events. We understand it is extremely hard to be in two places at once!

Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) staff announced a more definite boundary modification which will create two separate Kindergarten through grade 5 schools. The original building will keep the name “Golden Gate Elementary.”  However, the south building will receive a new name. Until that name is chosen by the School Board, it will be referred to as “Elementary G.” Parents/students will receive their 2020-21 school assignment notifications on January 20, 2020. To make it more convenient for parents, siblings (K – grade 5) will attend the same school.

Both school sites will feature the popular “Leader in Me” curriculum, and each will have its own dedicated administrative team and staff. In February, members of the school community will be able to suggest the name for “Elementary G.” A School Advisory Committee (SAC) will be formed at both locations.

This boundary modification also helps staff, which ultimately benefits your child. The more definite modification will allow teachers to maximize time so they do not have to travel to another campus for professional learning and other meetings. This will also more efficiently distribute staff and open new opportunities for collaborative planning.
