The District School Board of Collier County has 22 school psychologists who provide a comprehensive range of psychological services to students in 48 schools and three charter schools. In addition to regular psychological services, the district has specially trained psychologists who provide their expertise in the areas of autism, neuropsychology, hearing impairments, vision impairments, early childhood education, crisis intervention, violent threat assessment, curriculum based measurement, and multicultural assessment. School psychologists are committed to providing the best and most effective services possible to students and their families based upon current research and nationally recognized best practices.

School psychologists advocate for the safety, health, and overall educational development of students by enhancing their academic, emotional, and social development through direct intervention with students and consultation with teachers and parents. Often this goal is accomplished through the evaluation of students and their educational environment. School psychologists provide teachers with assessment information that details strengths and weaknesses of students. Importantly, gaps in academic, behavioral, and social skills are identified and recommendations are made for remediating any deficits. Assessment may include standardized testing, progress monitoring with curriculum-based assessment, interviews, observations, and other direct interventions with children, including the development of behavior plans and short-term counseling. By providing these services and through the contribution of their knowledge in the field of psychology, school psychologists play an active role in the multi-tiered system of supports afforded all students in the district.
