Book Club
Purpose and Nature:

Chamber Orchestra
Purpose and Nature:
- The purpose of the club is to be able to provide a higher-level performance opportunity for students who are/or not enrolled in an orchestra class at NHS.

City of Naples Youth Council
Purpose and Nature:
- The purpose is to act on a common desire to see positive change within the community while working with government officials to resolve issues relevant to the youth. Representing students to create, design, and suggest improvements for the community as an advisory board to City Council.

Debate
Purpose and Nature:
- The purpose of the Debate Club is to provide students with an opportunity to explore local and global issues through a structured exchange of ideas. Students research, draft, and present speeches in a manner that also allows for a constructive clash of ideas with other students. Through debate students gain multiple skills that they carry with them into adulthood: public speaking, non-verbal communication, current event analysis, constructive criticism, ethos, pathos, and logos, among many others.

Description of club activities:
- Debate Club provides an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in current events to engage in the art of civil discourse and discussion. We take the preparation of our cases and our participation in debate tournaments very seriously, however, our club emphasizes respect for others, tolerance, learning and fun. Teams will compete against other local high schools in Collier County.

Drawing for Dementia
Purpose and Nature:
- The purpose for this club is for art students to volunteer their time to draw or paint something for a specific person affected by dementia which would connect them to their early years.
Criteria to become a member:
- None
Description of club activities:
- Student volunteer time is rewarded with Bright Future Scholarship hours that are reviewed and approved by the Naples High School art teacher, Mrs. Perez. She will determine how many service hours students would receive for their pieces.
Any other pertinent information:
- Many people impacted by dementia are lonely and struggle to find happiness “in the present” as their memory “lives in the past.” Art could produce a connection to their past and possibly create some joy in their lives. Even though dementia patients would not know or remember who made the art, they would remember the feelings that come from it.

Dungeons and Dragons Club
Purpose and Nature:
- The purpose of Dungeons & Dragons Club is to build social skills through group interaction and team work, all while enjoying the intellectual fantasy world and all of its imaginative possibilities.

Engineering & Robotics
Purpose and Nature:
- Extension of our NAF/PLTW Engineering Academy. Robotics is not only the future, it is also the present. Beyond science and engineering principles, participating in robotics encourages creativity, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving among groups. By familiarizing students with programming, sensors, and automation, they hone critical computational thinking skills needed to succeed in both the 21st Century's workforce and in everyday life.

Envirothon
Purpose and Nature:
- Envirothon is a hands-on environmental problem-solving competition for high school-aged students.
Description of club activities:
- Participating teams complete training and testing in five natural resource categories including: soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife, and current environmental issues. Students will be prepared for the regional competition and prepare even further for the state competition that will showcase their environmental knowledge.

Future Doctors of America
Purpose and Nature:
- Future Doctors of America is a club created for the benefit of students who have expressed interest in pursuing a career in the medical field.
Criteria to become a member:
- Any student with an interest in the medical field.
Description of club activities:
- The club is designed to help students discover the many diverse career opportunities and occupations within the medical field. The club will have Skype based question and answer sessions with medical practitioners which will allow students to learn about the responsibilities and intricacies of several career paths in various locations around America. Members will play medical trivia games and have group based discussions on advancements in the medical field. Members will plan to participate in small group field trips to doctors’ offices around Naples during off-school hours.

Purpose and Nature:
- Interact is a club for young adults ages 13-18, who want to join together to tackle the issues in their community that they care most about. Interact club is sponsored by The Rotary Club of Naples, which is part of the Rotary International.

- As a member of Interact, you can carry out hands-on service projects within the community, develop leadership skills, and make international connections.

Purpose and Nature:
- Honor Guard cadets present sabers at significant civic events. This team requires cadets of a high moral character with proven cadet professionalism. This team is comprised of mostly upper classmen. Honor Guard is also an extension of the Color Guard team and participates in several key events like Honor Flight and Night to Shine.
Description of club activities:
- The JROTC Color Guard competes at county and state competitions. The Honor Guard uses sabers to present saber arches at various events, activities and ceremonies.

- The purpose of the JROTC Drum Corps is to perform at school and community events as well as parades.

Purpose and Nature:
- Raider Team is the physical training portion of the JROTC program. The team focuses on physical endurance to complete tasks such as tire flip, rope bridge, 3k run, obstacle course, and litter carry. The team is dedicated to preparing its mind and body for both county and state competition.

- The team competes at the county and state levels against other JROTC raider teams.

JROTC Rifle Team
Purpose and Nature:
- Rifle Team is dedicated to teaching and developing competition-style shooting. Cadets are taught the proper and safe way to shoot and handle air rifles. Each cadet is given a target sheet and try their best to get the most points from each hit on the target. Cadets must pass a rifle safety test before trying out for the team.

Junior Statesmen of America (JSA)
Purpose and Nature:
- The Junior Statesmen mission is to strengthen American democracy by educating and preparing high school students for life-long involvement and responsible leadership in a democratic society.
Description of club activities:
- In the student-run Junior State participants learn statesmanship as they engage in political discourse through weekly club debate forums and at the Fall State Convention. At Winter Congress, in Washington, D.C., students propose and promote their own legislation in House and Senate committees. Through participation in JSA, students cultivate democratic leadership skills, challenge one another to think critically, advocate their own opinions, develop respect for opposing views, and learn to rise above self-interest to promote the public good.

Kids CAN
Purpose and Nature:
- Kids CAN is devoted to helping local children, families, and individuals touched by Cancer by providing financial aid, support, education, and information resources. Serving all of Collier and Lee County. The mission of CAN is to help make the lives of Collier and Lee County residents being treated for cancer and the lives of their family easier by paying their non-medical bills like rent, utilities, food, gas, and offer other resources like group support.
Description of club activities:
- The Kids CAN club raises money for college scholarships for local high school graduating seniors who are battling cancer or who have a member of the family with cancer. Secondly, Kids CAN in its mission does fundraising endeavors to help local cancer patients. Kids CAN promotes awareness about cancer and takes the stress off cancer patients and their family during the time of chemotherapy or radiation treatment.

Literary Club
Purpose and Nature:
- The purpose of Naples High School's Literary Club is to produce a literary magazine to showcase students' talents in creative writing and art.

Model UN
Purpose and Nature:
- Model United Nations (also Model UN or MUN) The purpose of Model United Nations is to teach negotiating, bargaining and communication skills, represent a foreign perspective in a disciplined forum, enhance awareness and inform students on critical global issues, and acquaint students with the workings of the United Nations.
Description of club activities:
- In standard Model UN, students take on roles as diplomats and participate in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organization (IGO). Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.

Purpose and Nature:
- The purpose of My School Votes is to build life-long civic engagement for social issues and to encourage school-wide voter registration.
Criteria to become a member:
- Be at least 16 years old to be eligible to pre-register to vote.
Description of club activities:
- The club will partner with the City of Naples Youth Council and the Collier County Supervisor of Elections to distribute voter registration forms to eligible students in their English classes.

Teams from public and private Collier County schools compete to answer questions from the areas of mathematics, science, language arts, social studies, current events, and fine arts.
Criteria to become a member:
- Members are to have a high GPA and to have higher than average knowledge in several subject areas.
Description of club activities:
- The club will drill using practice questions in preparation for Academic Competitions at the COUNTY LEVEL and The A-Team Challenge which is a single-round elimination competition including 34 schools in the Southwest Florida Region.

Spanish Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica)
Purpose and Nature:
- The purpose of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to recognize high achievement in Spanish and Portuguese by students of secondary schools and to promote continuity of interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.

Spikeball Club
Purpose and Nature:
- Spikeball club is a fundraising club to raise money to support the cancer research unit of Lee Health.
Criteria to become a member:
- All students are welcome but you must already know how to play Spikeball to participate.
Description of club activities:
- The Spikeball Club brings a community of students together to play spikeball in tournaments to raise money to support cancer research. The club will host four tournaments a year.

Student Government Association
Purpose and Nature:
- The purpose of the Student Government Association is to represent all students at their High School. S.G.A. provides an opportunity for all students to actively contribute to the academic and social climate of the school campus.
Criteria to become a member:
- This club encourages students to participate in the governance of the campus community. One avenue for this participation is through the election of student leaders.

TOMS Club
Purpose and Nature:
- Community Service/Philanthropic club that gives back to the community through fundraisers, donations, and communications.
Description of club activities:
- Members take pride in bridging the gap between what teens can do today to make a difference for local families and adults, recognizing that there are those in need, outside these four walls, and doing something positive and proactive, in response.

We Dine Together
Purpose and Nature:
- We Dine Clubs are a place for students new to the school or those looking to expand their peer group within the club/school. The goal of We Dine is to reduce the number of students isolated during lunch by providing a time and space to increase students’ sense of belonging.
Description of club activities:
- Each session, members get the opportunity to take part in interactive activities, group discussions and dining together. By doing this, new students will be able to assimilate into the school culture, students will form friendships and learn to accept one another.

Young Life
Purpose and Nature:
- To create a sense of community and to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and hop them grow in their faith.
Description of club activities:
- Young Life is a student-led, Christian club that reaches out to middle school, high school, and college students in all 50 of the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world and cultivates a sense of connection and community.
