    September 11, 2024 Meeting Minutes:

    • PTO Meeting Dates were announced- 10/9, 11/6, 12/4, 1/15, 2/19, 3/19, 4/16, 5/21 all meetings are at 4:30 PM unless otherwise announced.
    • 10/5 Marley Palooza is a school event to celebrate being an “A” school, a lighthouse school and the 30th year anniversary of MES. PTO will be helping with the cost of food items and inflatable slide. Ms. Tanguma has asked the Lely cheer squad to do a performance with Marley, waiting on confirmation from Lely. Ms. Tanguma has also asked for Lely student volunteers to operate games, inflatable slide, facepaint, and serving of food. It was discussed to send out a volunteer sign up for staff and parents. Sign Up will be sent out via Sign Up Genius next week 9/16.
    • 10/18 Trunk or Treat- Timing of the event was discussed to push back to 6PM due to the heat during the day. Building on last year’s success of this event it was discussed to sell food items this year. Food items would include pizza, hot dogs and drinks. Pizza would be sold as a whole box or by the slice. Waters will need to be purchased to hand out to volunteers during the event. Ms. Lara is reaching out to a family member with a large grill for Hot dogs. A “Candy Monster” has been placed in the cafeteria to encourage families to donate bags of candy for the event. PTO will supply the remainder of candy that is not donated. Volunteers will be asked to supply at least 2 bags of candy to start the event. It was discussed to send out the car sign up via Sign Up Genius ASAP. Ms. Tanguma has asked for student volunteers from Lely High. It was discussed to have games in a central location.
    •  11/15 Marley’s Drive Thru The vision of this event is similar to an event that was held a few years ago. Families would Drive Thru the car rider line and pick up food items, and park in the parking lot for a “tailgate” style dinner. Games would be set up for students to play. Music would be played for family enjoyment. An inflatable movie screen was suggested, but we do not have proper licensing and was vetoed. More details on this event will be discussed in our 10/9 Meeting.
    •  12/7 Pancakes with Santa This event was briefly mentioned and will be discussed more in upcoming meetings.
    • Everblades Night- This fundraiser was mentioned, theme nights are attached.
    • Dine to donate Nights (groupraise)- Fundraiser idea was discussed- Pizza Hut offers a 20% back incentive for pickup or delivery. It was mentioned to inquire about Culver Nights as a fundraiser as well.
