2021-2022 Important Health Information
Visitors and Volunteers
Visitors and volunteers are welcome on our CCPS campuses. These visits may include, but are not limited to, volunteering in cafeterias, helping in classrooms, or mentoring for academic purposes. Parents may visit during lunch time to dine with their students as we have previously allowed. Please ask your school administration for details. We are grateful to our parents and community volunteers for engaging with our schools and investing in the lives of our students.Quarantine/Isolation Period
Collier County Public Schools follows the five-day quarantine/isolation period for students and staff who receive a COVID-19 positive test result, consistent with recommendations from the Florida Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.Masks/Face Coverings
In compliance with the Governor's Executive Order 21-175, masks will be optional. We continue to consult with the Florida Department of Health-Collier (DOH-Collier) who highly recommend the use of masks/face coverings by District staff and students to reduce the risk of transmission.Contact Tracing
CCPS will work collaboratively with the Florida Department of Health-Collier regarding notifications to parents of students or individuals on campuses or in school activities determined to be COVID-19 close/direct contacts. As established during summer school, vaccinated students deemed close/direct contacts will NOT need to quarantine (unless they are symptomatic or test positive).
In the event of a quarantine, students are able to continue accessing assignments through the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and district-assigned laptop.
Maximizing Space
Students will be encouraged to maximize all available space during morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, recess, and physical education. Classroom spaces will be maximized wall-to-wall with desks facing the same direction. Collaborative learning is permitted with students coming together as appropriate.Free Breakfast and Lunch
Parents, please encourage your students to take advantage of free breakfast and lunch, available again this school year regardless of income levels. Research proves well-nourished children who start the day with breakfast are more likely to be better learners and willing participants in class. Students will utilize both indoor and outdoor eating spaces as much as possible.Sick or Symptomatic Students
Students who are sick should stay home and not return to school until they are symptom-free (click to review Student Health Screener) and fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medicines for at least 24 hours.Students will be able to access assignments through the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and district-assigned laptop.
Vaccinations
Collier County Public Schools will not mandate the COVID-19 vaccination of students enrolled in our schools. The decision whether or not to vaccinate a child for COVID-19 rests with parents.Virtual Learning
For families desiring a virtual learning option, eCollier Virtual Academy expanded for School Year 2021-22 to serve students from grades Kindergarten through 12. Free enrollment features local instruction and support.More information about eCA is available at www.collierschools.com/eca.
Transportation
Bus drivers will continue to space students on buses, when possible, and will leave windows slightly open to increase ventilation on board buses.Other Precautions
CCPS will continue with our cleaning service for all 50+ campuses. Areas where known cases have been identified will be disinfected. Staff and students will continue with frequent hand washing and hand sanitizer stations will remain available through schools.
