Three Collier County Public Schools Recognized as 2026 Exceeding Expectations Award Schools

Additionally, qualifying schools completed a comprehensive application process to validate their data and provide deeper insight into the strategies driving their success.

As part of this recognition, each Collier County award school presented at the 2026 Exceeding Expectations Conference in Orlando, Florida. Their sessions highlighted effective, replicable practices that have contributed to improved student outcomes:

LAVERN GAYNOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Lavern Gaynor Elementary’s approach places student leadership at the center of teaching and learning. Through structured, collaborative data analysis routines, educators work together to review student progress, adjust instruction, and coach students to take ownership of their performance.

Students actively monitor their attendance, grades, and assessment results through personal data dashboards. With consistent coaching and accountability, they set goals, track progress, engage their families, and make real-time adjustments. This empowering approach transforms student mindset, engagement, and ultimately, achievement.

PALMETTO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Palmetto Elementary showcased strategies for strengthening school culture through collaboration and connection. Their session highlighted four key practices:

1. Leveraging relationships, surveys, and honest feedback
2. Building action teams to empower staff leadership
3. Elevating teacher expertise through collaboration and open classrooms
4. Strengthening connections to recruit and retain new teachers

These approaches foster a positive, collaborative environment where educators feel supported and students benefit from a strong, cohesive school culture.

MANATEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Manatee Elementary School highlighted how a focus on Accountability, Belief, and Collaboration (ABC) transformed their school culture and student outcomes. The session explored how the school established clear expectations, aligned instructional practices, and used data as a tool for continuous growth rather than compliance. By fostering a culture of shared accountability and unwavering belief in every learner, the school shifted mindsets from “some can” to “all will.”

Participants also learned how intentional structures for collaboration strengthened staff partnerships and community engagement. Attendees walked away with practical strategies, replicable systems, and insights to build professional communities where every stakeholder is invested in student success.

Leaders from these three elementary schools will be recognized during the next CCPS School Board Meeting on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
