JROTC Scholarships

  • Senior Scholarships

    Lloyd F. Hutt Scholarship - $2,000

    Requirements:

    • All applicants must be a resident of Michigan or Florida.
    • A member of Lake Michigan Credit Union or the child of a Lake Michigan Credit Union member (i.e. a student in Texas must be a member/child of a member to be eligible). LMCU employees, children of LMCU employees, directors or officers are not eligible.
    • All senior high school students are eligible for the program (except for LMCU employees, children of LMCU employees, directors or officers).
    • All applicants must be high school seniors (includes homeschool students) and plan to enter a trade school, college or university in the next academic year. Recipients must submit evidence of acceptance and enrollment in an accredited trade school, college or university before payment will be made.
    • Complete and submit your essay by January 31, 2020.

     

    Shawn King Scholar Athlete Award - $10,000

    Requirements:

    • Available to graduating high school seniors at Barron Collier High School.
    • Students must have varsity lettered sport for at least two (2) Students may have two (2) Varsity letters (can be the same sport). Band is not considered a varsity sport. Cheerleading is included as a sport.
    • Students need to include a personal statement, no longer than 250 words.
    • Students are requested to include their parent/guardian's financial statement.
    • Students should submit a recent transcript with their application.
    • Submit application and supporting documents by April 15, 2020 DEADLINE.

              

    Optimist Club Of Naples - $10,000

    Requirements:

    • Available to graduating seniors from any high school in Collier County.
    • Applicant must have an unweighted GPA of 3.0
    • Any student meeting the FULL requirement to be classified as a SENIOR.
    • Student MUST be graduating in the class 2019; public and private school graduates.
    • Submit a fully completed application with required documents BEFORE Friday February 28th, 2020 DEADLINE.

     

    The Hillard Scholarships - $2,000

    Requirements:

    • For high school seniors in Glades & Hendry Counties who will attend FGCU. 
    • Nominees should have financial need, the potential to succeed in school, and demonstrate the following personal traits: a spirit of adventure, a sense of purpose, a commitment to unending personal improvement, and a desire to help others. A student must provide the UFF with a copy of their transcript each semester and maintain a cumulative yearly GPA of 2.5.
    • Letter on organization’s letterhead explaining how the nominee meets the criteria.
    • Nominee’s 400 – 500 word essay explaining need, future goals, how they emulate the characteristics of the five “Uncommon Friends” and how they demonstrate ethical behavior in their day to day living in interaction with others.
    • Letter from an additional individual or sponsoring organization.
    • Digital color photograph of the nominee will be requested upon acceptance of the scholarship.
    • Application due 04/01/20

      

    The Ralph Stewart Student Scholarship - $2,000

    Requirements:

    • Students may apply if they attend high schools in Collier and Lee County.
    • Students are encouraged to participate in regular season concerts & practices.
    • Applicants must demonstrate proficiency on an Orchestra/Band Instrument or as a vocalist as judged by the NOC Music Committee & the Board of Directors.
    • The student must submit a Letter of Recommendation by the student's private teacher or high school instructor.
    • Students will be requested to submit a one-page essay highlighting the importance of music in your life to date and why you believe it will be important to you in your life and career going forward.
    • Application due 03/01/20 

     

    William S Gentry Scholarships - $1,000

    Requirements:

    • Turn in the completed CCPS paper application to your school's head counselor before March 15,2020 deadline.
    • Awarded number of students varies each year. 

     

    William D. Anderson Scholarship Fund - $1,000

    Requirements:

    • For women and men that are graduating high school seniors from public or private/independent schools in Collier County and Bonita Springs.
    • Must be a resident of Collier County or Bonita Springs.
    • Preference for applicants that are majoring in the Arts or Health Sciences.
    • This is not a renewable scholarship.
    • There is not a minimum GPA requirement.
    • The student must be considered financially needy.
    • Application due:12/01/19

     

    Voices of Naples Vocal Music Scholarships - $3,000

    Requirements:

    • The student must be graduating high school senior.
    • Must be enrolled a Lee or Collier County high school.
    • Planning to pursue a college major associated with vocal music.
    • Finalist must audition on
    • Application received by March 16,2020.

     

    The George F.Sore Scholarship - $3,000

    Requirements:

    • Graduating Florida high school senior or a student currently enrolled in Florida College or University.
    • Parents are farm workers in Florida specialty crop agriculture.
    • Exemplary citizenship demonstrated by two (2) letters of recommendation.
    • Acceptance to a post-secondary institution.
    • Mail completed application and supporting documents by April 15th Deadline.

     

    Special Recognition Scholarship Nomination - $3,000

    Requirements:

    • The nominee should have financial need.
    • The potential to succeed in school.
    • Demonstrate the following personal traits: a spirit of adventure, a sense of purpose, a commitment to unending personal improvement, and a desire to help others.
    • This scholarship is not age or career specific.
    • April 1, 2020 deadline.

     

    Southwest Florida Pastel Society Sam Platt Scholarship - $1,000

    Requirements:

    • For graduating high school seniors from Collier, Lee, and Charlotte Counties.
    • Applicants may attend a private, an independent or a public school.
    • Applicants must plan on majoring in the Art Fields.
    • Applicants may attend a four-year university, two-year college, or technical college.
    • There is not a minimum GPA to apply to this scholarship, however, the Society may not consider GPAs under a C average.
    • The student will need to complete an Artist Statement and a submission of artwork (which can be uploaded to the online application). The Artist Statement should include the applicant’s future plans/career goals and plans for post-secondary pursuits.
    • Three original artworks should be submitted online. One of the submissions may be a pastel.
    • The submissions should show the depth and breadth of the applicant’s artwork.
    • The submissions should be submitted as jpegs. No digital manipulation can be done to the images. 
    • Application due:12/01/19

     

    Junior Scholarships 

    AES ENGINEERING  SCHOLARSHIPS - $500

    Requirements:

    • Applicant must be a current high school seniors and or students attending a post-secondary educational facility.             
    • Students do not need to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.
    • Submit complete application and essay to scholarships@aesengineers.com by October 6th, 2019 deadline.

     

    AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS - $2,500 - $10,000

    Requirements:

    • MUST be a United State Citizen or legal resident living or claiming residency in one of the 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico. 
    • Be a current high school senior who plans to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2019-20 academic year. Enrollment at an accredited post-secondary institution outside of the United States will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
    • Demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community and work-related activities.
    • Complete an online application.

     

    ABBOTT AND FENNER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - $ 1,000

    Requirements:

    • High school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post-secondary institution.
    • Students need to provide an essay and their contact information.
    • Submit essay by June 12, 2020 deadline.

     

    Environmental Awareness Scholarship Essay - $1,000

    Requirements:

    • Open to U.S. and International students.
    • Must be College Students, High School Students, Student Groups and or School Classrooms.
    • Essay MUST be written in English?
    • Submit a 800-1000 word essay
    • February 1, 2020 DEADLINE.

     

    Jade Riedel Scholarship Competition - $20,000

    Requirements:

    • Must be Collier County junior and senior high school students.
    • Each applicant may enter one original 2 or 3-dimensional work of art.
    • Copies of original artwork are not eligible.
    • Scholarship awards will be based on artwork entered and the student’s intent to further study art at the college level.
    • To be eligible for the $20,000 Ringling College of Art and
      Design scholarship, the  senior students must apply and be accepted to Ringling College for Fall 2020 or Spring 2021.
    • Deliver exhibition ready artwork and completed registration form  March 26th or March 27th, 2020. 2pm-6pm. Deliver to the Naples Art Association at 585 Park Street, Naples, FL 34102.

     

    Raise.me - $5,000

    Requirements:

    • me partners with colleges and universities to offer students scholarships starting in the 9th grade.
    • Add your achievements: your course grades, clubs, sports, volunteer activities, and more.
    • Earn scholarships: For achievement, you'll earn scholarships from colleges, which you'll be awarded when you attend that college.
    • Discover colleges: Follow colleges you want to learn more about and find which ones are the best fit for you.
    • Application due: 08/01/20

     

    Sophomore Scholarships 

    BACK TO SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP - $2,500

    Requirements:

     Applicant must be 13-years-old and older.

    • Applicant must be a U.S. Resident.
    • Students must be currently enrolled in a school to be eligible. Homeschool qualifies as well.
    • Application due 10/31/19

     

    ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY - $1000

    Requirements:

    • Open to U.S. and International students.
    • Must be College Students, High School Students, Student Groups and or School Classrooms.
    • Essay MUST be written in English

    JAMES C. RAY FLIGHT TRAINING PILOT SOLO SCHOLARSHIP - $5000

    Requirements:

    • Students must live in Collier County.
    • Students must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
    • Students must be at least 15.5 years old through 18 years old.
    • The applicant may be from a Public School, Private School or a Homeschooled student in Collier.
    • Students must have completed and passed the applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Written Airmen's Knowledge Exam.
    • The student must submit a Personal Statement Essay including:

            1) academic areas of involvement;

            2) aviation and/or aerospace-related area(s) of interest;

            3)  personal goals related to aviation; and

            4) career aspirations.

    • Students may be invited to an interview.
    • The committee will look at the volunteer work that a student has completed. In order to qualify for the Certificate Scholarship-Private Pilot, Airplane Scholarship, a student will need a minimum of 25 volunteer hours.
    • Application due 12/31/19

     

    UNCOMMON FRIENDS FOUNDATION-FLORIDA PREPAID COLLEGE TUITION - $8500

    Requirements:

    • Initialed Statement 
    • Letter on organization’s letterhead explaining how the nominee meets the criteria.
    • Nominee’s 400 – 500-word essay explaining the need, future goals, how they emulate the characteristics of the five “Uncommon Friends” and how they demonstrate ethical behavior in their day to day living in interaction with others.
    • Letter from an additional individual or sponsoring organization.
    • Digital color photograph of the nominee will be requested upon acceptance of the scholarship.
    • Submit application and supporting documents on or BEFORE April 1, 2020 DEADLINE.

     

    PROFILE IN COURAGE ESSAY CONTEST - $2000

    Requirements:

    • The 2018 contest deadline is January 17, 2020.
    • The contest is open to United States high school students in grades nine through twelve attending public, private, parochial, or home schools; U.S. students under the age of twenty enrolled in a high school correspondence/GED program in any of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, or the U.S. territories; and U.S. citizens attending schools overseas.
    • Essays can be no more than 1,000 words but must be a minimum of 700 words. Citations and bibliography are not included in the word count.
    • Essays must be the original work of the student.
    • John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Edward M. Kennedy are not eligible subjects for essays.
    • Essays must describe an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. The official may have addressed an issue at the local, state, or national level. See Contest Topic and Information and Helpful Tips for Writing Your Essay for more information.
    • Essays about past recipients of the Profile in Courage Award will be disqualified unless they describe an act of political courage other than the act for which the award was given. 
    • Essays must have a minimum of five sources.
