    Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Reporting–Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students

    Pursuant to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Collier County Public Schools’ Lorenzo Walker Technical College (OPEID Number 01323400) signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement. The institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students

    The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Lorenzo Walker Technical College was $246,410 for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

    The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the date of submission has been $245,493.36.

    The estimated total number of students who deemed eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to apply for and receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to student under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 340.

    The total number of students who have applied for and received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act has been 268.

    The method used to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants was (a) full-time student enrolled as of the data of the CARES Act; (b) students enrolled in Adult Career and Technical Education programs; ( c ) students were eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. (d) Students had to complete an online application, which was posted on the school’s website and learning management platform and emailed to students. (e) Workforce Education Advisors followed up with phone calls and emails to students who did not apply reminding them of the deadline to apply for the funds. The initial amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grant each student received was $916.02.

    Instructions, directions, or guidance was provided by the institution to student concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants via an online application. Such application requested information, such as but not limited to, data necessary for the institution to determine eligibility, confirm student’s contact information, and expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.
