Update for High School Students - Senior Yard Signs, Winged Foot Scholarship, Financial Aid Information
As we continue the school year in a virtual environment, we want to celebrate our graduating seniors, provide important information and resources about college and career planning, and highlight available resources to support learning for all of our high school students.
Please join us on Wednesday, April 22, at 12:00pm, for a Facebook Live on “Funding Your Future” for high school students and families. This event will also be broadcast on channel 99 and streamed on the CCPS website at collierschools.com.
SENIOR YARD SIGNS
Collier County Public Schools wants to recognize our seniors in a very special way. In the coming weeks, customized yard signs will be delivered to each senior student in the district to acknowledge and celebrate their hard work and accomplishments. These yard signs, which may also be displayed in a window or entryway, were designed by CCPS staff and printed with the generous support from many local businesses and organizations.
WINGED FOOT SCHOLARSHIP
Each year the Winged Foot Scholarship Foundation reviews nominations of outstanding athletes made by all local high schools and announces a winner at the annual awards banquet. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are saddened to announce that the award banquet has been canceled for this year. The good news is the scholarship will still be awarded! Each school’s nominee will receive a $5,000 award with the winner receiving an additional award of $2,500 per year for four years while attending college.
Each high school has information posted on their website concerning the award criteria and downloadable versions of the application. The qualifications are quite specific, so please be sure you qualify before applying. All applications are due to your school’s Activities Coordinator by May 8, 2020, via email only. The Activities Coordinator's email address can be found on your school's website. The application asks for two letters of recommendation and a transcript. Please allow sufficient time to acquire the required documents, particularly during this time when many are working from home.
COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS
The College Board recently announced that the SAT and SAT Subject Tests scheduled for June 6, 2020, have been canceled. Future test dates and testing options, including additional fall testing dates and potential home administration options, will be announced on their website at www.CollegeBoard.org.
ACT has rescheduled it’s April 4, 2020, national test date to June 13, 2020, across the U.S. All students registered for the April 4, 2020, test date should receive an email from ACT with instructions for free rescheduling to the June 13, 2020, or a future national test date. Please visit www.act.org for more information.
We will continue to keep you informed as definitive plans are made for additional or alternative ways to take the SAT and/or ACT.
SCHOLARSHIPS & SCHOLARSHIP CONNECTOR
Students should continue to monitor the CCPS website at collierschools.com/scholarships for scholarships and continue to apply. Students should also review and monitor the Scholarship Connector at https://www.swflscholarships.org.

Naviance is a District resource available to ALL high school students that provides opportunities for college and career exploration. Activities in Naviance allow students to focus on next steps towards their plans after high school, finalize a list of colleges/universities, identify financial aid and scholarship opportunities, build a resume and other preparatory activities to support post-secondary success. Click here for Naviance information and access instructions.
SENIORS: Please log into Naviance through CANVAS and complete the Senior Survey: After High School Plans. In addition, all transcripts are to be submitted through Naviance. Contact your school counselor with questions.
INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT AND ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Student attendance is evaluated on a weekly basis. Students must participate in eLearning or communicate with their teacher at least once during the week. The District wants to ensure that all students continue to earn credits and are on track for graduation.
All high school students who have taken the PSAT 8/9 or PSAT/NMSQT have the ability to link their scores with Khan Academy. By linking their assessment results, Khan Academy provides a personalized pathway to reinforce areas of academic strength and support additional learning in areas needing additional growth. Students practice at their own pace, first filling in gaps in their understanding and then accelerating their learning.
Any high school student that needs information on how to link their scores should contact their high school counselor or review access instructions by clicking here.
Additionally, Khan Academy has lessons on math, science, history, grammar, SAT prep, coding, medicine, music, Pixar filmmaking, financial planning, and a whole host of additional course offerings. All K-12 students are encouraged to explore these offerings to enhance their learning about topics of interest.
