CCPS Continues Successful "A" District Rating
Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) students and staff have once again earned an “A” rating, continuing a successful “A” streak dating back to 2017. This is particularly significant considering the impact of the pandemic and the differences in learning conditions during the 2020-21 school year. For this Florida Department of Education (FDOE) assessment period, based on the number of districts reporting school grades, CCPS is one of seven to earn the “A” distinction. In comparison, the last time FDOE reported school and district grades in 2019, CCPS was one of twenty-four Florida school districts rated as an “A.”
For the first time ever, CCPS outperformed the state in all 21 assessed areas, exceeding the state average in every content area. Out of our traditional public schools, 21 of 51 (41%) CCPS schools earned an “A” and none earned a grade of D or F. Of special significance, both Pinecrest Elementary and Village Oaks Elementary earned a grade of “A” and “C” respectively, removing them from the state’s list of low performing schools.
The state accountability system focuses on school and district performance outcomes: student achievement, learning gains, graduation, acceleration success, and maintaining a focus on students who need the most support.
Continued success in CCPS can be attributed to the hard work and commitment of students, parents, teachers, school leaders, District staff, and strong community support. The collective effort of CCPS staff to return more than 91% of students back to on campus instruction in the second semester of School Year 2020-21 was a significant factor in our students’ academic performance.
Achieving “A” rated status yet again is a significant accomplishment given the disrupted learning from the previous two school years. This reflects the incredible work of our teachers and leaders during a very challenging school year. I am also so proud of the performance of Village Oaks Elementary and Pinecrest Elementary and the significant increases in academic achievement and learning gains at both schools.
