The Identity Fraud Awareness Community Taskforce, otherwise known as IFACT, has partnered with Collier County Public Schools to bring an informational forum to the community on the topic of identity theft and how to protect your personal and financial assets. The Identity Theft, Fraud, and Cyber Threat Prevention Forum is being held on Monday, May 9, at 4:30 p.m. in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Administrative Center Board Auditorium (5775 Osceola Trail, Naples).
An initiative of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), IFACT was formed in 2014 by 22 local citizens representing a wide range of organizations and businesses. Tasked with the job of reaching as many residents and businesses as possible, the group works to inform the community on the most recent tactics being used by those who are after our money, personal and financial records, and even our homes.
IFACT is comprised of community leaders focused on protecting the community from identity theft, fraud, and cyber threats. Several of them deal with the subject of fraud on an almost daily basis and are scheduled to share their expertise at the forum on May 9: Carrie Kerskie, Kerskie Group; Crystal Kinzel, Collier County Clerk of the Circuit Court; Lt. Chad Parker, Collier County Sheriff's Office Financial Crimes Bureau; Attorney Christopher Vernon, Vernon Litigation; and Tom Whalen, Director, Red Five Security Consultant. Attorney Patrick H. Neale, Patrick Neale & Associates, will serve as moderator of the event.
Those who attended the most recent forums sponsored by IFACT heard these experts speak to the topic of fraud and identify theft and field questions from the audience on a subject that should concern everyone. Not until we’re the target does anyone really understand how devastating it is to be a victim.
For those unable to attend the forum in person, CCPS plans to broadcast the event live on the Education Channel, which is channel 99 on Comcast, CenturyLink, and Summit Broadband. It will also be streamed live on the District’s Facebook page (@collierschools), the District’s website, and the CCPS Mobile APP.
For further information concerning IFACT and/or its schedule of presentations, email Carrie Kerskie at firstname.lastname@example.org who will add you to the contact list to receive notices of future appearances.
