For the first time since before the pandemic, the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) has released the full list of school and district grades. Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) is proud to announce that once again our students and staff have earned an “A” rating, continuing a successful “A” streak dating back to 2017 and ranking CCPS in the top five districts statewide.  This is particularly significant considering the continued impact of the pandemic during the 2021-22 school year. CCPS is one of 14 districts to earn the “A” distinction, in comparison with 24 Florida school districts rated as an “A” in 2019.  Additionally, CCPS is one of only five districts (3%) who have been “A” rated since 2017.

For the second consecutive year, CCPS outperformed the state in all 21 assessed areas, exceeding the state average in every content area. Out of our traditional public schools, 29 of 51 (57%) CCPS schools earned an “A”, 18 improved their grade, and none earned a grade of D or F. Of special significance, both Lake Trafford Elementary and Village Oaks Elementary improved from a grade of “C” to an “A”. The last time Lake Trafford was rated an “A” was in 2009 and this is the first time that Village Oaks Elementary receives an “A” rating in the history of school grading.

A consistent focus on progress monitoring and ongoing adjustments to instruction have positively impacted student achievement across feeder patterns. Of note, for the first time ever, the five Immokalee-area elementary schools received a grade of “A” or “B”, establishing a strong foundation for future academic success at the secondary level. Additionally, the seven schools in the Golden Gate feeder pattern either maintained or improved their grade to a “B”, with Mike Davis Elementary improving to an “A”. These accomplishments demonstrate our district’s continued efforts to close achievement gaps.

The state accountability system focuses on school and district performance outcomes: student achievement, learning gains, graduation, acceleration success, and maintaining a focus on students who need the most support.

Continued success in CCPS can be attributed to the hard work and commitment of students, parents, teachers, school leaders, District staff, and strong community support. The consistent focus on high-quality instruction, access and opportunities to educational programming in every school, and high-expectations have contributed to our strong track record of A-rated success.

Achieving an “A” district rating yet again is a significant accomplishment given the challenging conditions that arose during the COVID-19 pandemic and continued during the 2021-22 school year. This reflects the incredible work of our students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community members.
