Health Information 2021-22 Update #2
We are committed to sharing updates and guidance intended to help inform individual choices throughout the new school year. In compliance with the Governor's Executive Order 21-175, masks are optional for Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) students and staff.
This weekend, we have consulted with the Florida Department of Health-Collier (DOH-Collier) and our local medical professionals about the recent Collier County spike in the COVID-19 Delta variant and this strain’s propensity to infect children. They HIGHLY RECOMMEND the use of masks by District staff and students.

Our local medical professionals tell us – since the onset of the pandemic – right now they are seeing the highest number of young children, teenagers, and young adults requiring ER evaluation, treatment, and a higher rate of hospitalization when compared to last year. Community physicians have also reported overwhelming degrees of people requiring outpatient care as well. Since July, there has been a high level of community transmissibility as reported by the DOH-Collier.
The medical professionals include, but are not limited to:
- NCH Healthcare Medical Director COVID-19 Response Team
- NCH Healthcare Chief Medical Officer
- NCH Healthcare Pediatric Emergency Room
- NCH Healthcare Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
- NCH Healthcare Pediatric Infectious Diseases, KIDZ Medical Services
- NCH Healthcare Pediatrics
- KIDZ Pediatric Multispecialty Center
- Collier County Medical Society
- Healthcare Network of SWFL
- Lighthouse Pediatrics
- Apple Pediatrics
- Wilson Pediatrics
CCPS will continue to share updates throughout this fluid process of simultaneously educating today’s learners and tomorrow’s leaders, while still being mindful of health implications tied to the pandemic.
