Enhanced Student Communication: Emergency Text Messages

August 24, 2018

We have received positive feedback from our parents regarding timely and accurate information during emergencies. We want to make you aware of a recent safety enhancement, an option to additionally provide students with timely and accurate information during emergencies.

During middle and high school grade-level assemblies, we are offering your child the option to submit his/her cell phone number to receive emergency messages. Only members of the District’s emergency response team will be able to access your child’s cell phone number. This number will not be used for any other purposes. If you do not want your child to participate, beginning this Monday, you may access the CCPS Portal and select “no” for Student Emergency Notification (texts) in your Communication Preferences tab.

As a reminder, please take a moment and update your emergency contact information so that we can ensure you will receive all emergency updates as well. We have spent the past several months reviewing and strengthening our school security and emergency communication systems. Thank you for putting your child and your trust in Collier County Public Schools.
