FALL ATHLETICS: Guidance for Spectators

UPDATED: September 29, 2020

Guidance for Spectators (sport-by-sport breakdown below)

We are pleased the Florida Department of Health-Collier has approved the ability to have limited spectator attendance at CCPS athletic competitions.

Spectators will be subject to the following health and safety guidelines:

  • All spectators will be REQUIRED to wear a face covering (covering nose and mouth)

  • Open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves/vents, mesh material, lace, holes, or other largely porous materials are NOT acceptable

  • The public health principle of social distancing remains in order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission

CCPS Fall Sports Spectator Guidance (alphabetical order)

CROSS COUNTRY

Each CCPS student-athlete will be permitted to invite two members of his/her household to attend each HOME and AWAY meet. All spectators will be expected to practice social distancing and wear protective face coverings.

FOOTBALL (Updated 9-29-2020)

Spectators are required to be seated in designated spots (marked by schools’ logo stickers) in the bleachers.

  • All persons will be required to wear a protective face covering at all times when on campus
    • This includes when waiting in a line, and in the stadium

  • Limited social distancing using pre-identified, marked bleacher seats will allow for each participant's two household guests to sit together, while maintaining space from other spectators

  • No standing along the fence around the athletic field or nearby fence lines

  • High schools are giving ticket access directly to students to provide to the two household members

  • Concessions will be limited to grab-and-go commercially packaged snacks; social distancing of six (6) feet will be followed

All persons will be required to leave the premises IMMEDIATELY after the conclusion of each contest.  For example, if a double header is scheduled, as in Freshman and JV football, when the first game ends all spectators from that game will be required to leave the premises before spectators for the next game will be permitted to enter.

Freshman Football

  • Each CCPS student-athlete and cheerleader will be allowed to invite two members of his/her household to attend each HOME and AWAY game
    • Beginning 9/24/2020, Freshman Cheer will travel to away games and will be provided 2 tickets per household

JV Football

  • Each CCPS student-athlete and cheerleader will be allowed to invite two members of his/her household to attend each HOME and AWAY game
    • Beginning 9/24/2020, JV Cheer will travel to away games and will be provided 2 tickets per household

Varsity Football (Updated 9-29-2020)

  • Each CCPS student participant (football player, cheerleader, marching band/auxiliary member) will be allowed to invite two members of his/her household to attend each HOME game

  • Each football player and cheerleader will be allowed to invite two members of his/her household to attend each AWAY game
    • Note: Bands current do not travel to AWAY games

  • Additional available seats will go to senior students from the HOME team

GOLF

All our teams’ courses are allowing each CCPS student-athlete to invite two members of his/her household to attend each HOME and AWAY match. All spectators will be expected to practice social distancing and wear protective face coverings.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

Collier County Public Schools partners with outside venues in our community to accommodate our swim and diving teams.

The regular season meets are free to attend; however, these venues have limited capacity in order to abide by health and safety guidelines.  Seating is open to student households from both home and away teams; however, we have been told seating is on a first-come first-serve basis. Once these venues reach capacity, no one else will be allowed to enter. All spectators will be expected to practice social distancing and wear protective face coverings.

Please note: Based on the decision by facility management who hosts Naples High School (NHS) swimming and diving teams, spectators will not be allowed to attend NHS HOME meets.

VOLLEYBALL (Updated 9-29-2020)

FLDOH-Collier is allowing additional people inside our CCPS gymnasiums, which means players from the Freshman, JV, and Varsity Girls Volleyball teams can be inside the gym at the same time in order to support their fellow students.  This applies to both HOME and AWAY teams.

In order to limit capacity, only the parents/guardians of the team currently playing will be allowed to watch.

Each CCPS student-athlete will be permitted to invite two members of his/her household to attend each HOME and AWAY game. When our schools host non-CCPS teams, those visiting student-athletes will also be permitted to invite two members of his/her household to attend the game. This applies to Freshman, JV, and Varsity Volleyball teams.

Spectators are required to be seated in designated spots (marked by schools’ logo stickers) in the bleachers.

  • All spectators will be required to wear a face covering at all times on campus
    • This includes when waiting in a line and in the gym

  • Social distancing using pre-identified, marked bleacher seats will allow for each participant's two household guests to sit together, six feet apart from others

  • No standing on the court inside the school gym

  • High Schools are giving ticket access directly to students to provide to the two household members

All persons will be required to leave the premises IMMEDIATELY after the conclusion of each contest.

For example, if a doubleheader is scheduled, as in JV and Varsity Volleyball, when the first game ends all spectators from that game will be required to leave the premises before the spectators for the next game will be permitted to enter.

Concessions will be limited to grab-and-go commercially packaged snacks; social distancing of six (6) feet will be followed

For family members and fans not attending an event in person, CCPS has invested in the technology necessary to stream football and volleyball games in real time.

All middle school athletics have been postponed until Winter/Spring season. We will share more information on those events as it becomes available.

We are excited to welcome parents and family members to our athletic events. However, our long-term goal is to keep our athletic events open to spectators. Accomplishing this goal requires shared responsibility from everyone in our community. #COVIDStopsWithMe
