MOVING FORWARD UPDATE: 2021-2022 Instructional Models

March 31, 2021

As we look ahead to the new school year (first student day-August 10, 2021), Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) will offer two instructional options:

Full-time on campus

OR

Full-time virtual learning through eCollier Virtual Academy (eCA), which is expanding to become a K-12 school

The innovative virtual models (Classroom Connect and High School Flexible at enrolled schools) were an option provided by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) through the end of this school year. CCPS will not be offering these innovative virtual models in the 2021-2022 school year.

Parents of students currently in innovative virtual models (Classroom Connect and/or High School Flexible at enrolled schools) who would like for their students to continue in a full-time virtual learning option in 2021-2022 must enroll their students in the eCollier Virtual Academy (eCA). Students currently in Classroom Connect and/or High School Flexible will be considered on-campus students at their current schools, in the new school year, unless enrolled in eCA.

Students that are most successful in a full-time virtual model, such as eCA, have the following characteristics:

  • Self-motivated
  • Disciplined
  • Comfortable with technology
  • Independent learner
  • Strong time management skills
  • Able to set personal deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

eCA offers a variety of student activities with the option for high school students to participate in athletics at zoned schools. All courses are taken through eCA. eCA does not offer co-curricular (components of course required beyond the school day) courses such as Band or JROTC. Students interested in a co-curricular course must be enrolled in an on-campus option.

Enrolling in eCA is a minimum of a one semester commitment. Students will be required to attend synchronous (live) virtual teacher lessons at scheduled times. Students will also be required to take District and State Assessments at assigned regional locations. Please click here for more information on eCA, including the enrollment process.

Please contact Teaching and Learning (teachingandlearning@collierschools.com) with any questions.
