This is a reminder regarding the closure of Collier County Public Schools due to Hurricane Helene. Please note, there are currently no evacuation orders in our area and Collier County Emergency Management states that no evacuation shelters are planned at this time.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

  • Starting at 6:30pm, all CCPS activities and district leases are canceled and schools/district sites will be closed.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26

  • Collier County Public Schools will be CLOSED tomorrow (Thursday, September 26). This closure includes:
    • All CCPS schools and district sites
    • After-school programs
    • Extracurricular activities, including athletic and performing arts practices and competitions
    • Adult and Community Education classes
    • District leases

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

  • A decision about Friday, September 27, will be made once more information on the impacts of the storm becomes available, including power outages and flooding.

The National Weather Service in Miami has placed Collier County under a Tropical Storm Warning and coastal Collier County, Marco Island, and Everglades City under a Storm Surge Warning. Current projections indicate worsening weather beginning this evening around sunset and sustained tropical storm conditions beginning in the early hours tomorrow morning through Thursday evening. The storm effects are forecasted to bring heavy rain to our area, potential flooding and storm surge risks, as well as winds that would exceed safe levels for buses to be on the road (sustained winds of 35mph or more).

We hope our CCPS family stays safe during the storm. Please continue to monitor, your email, our District website (collierschools.com), and social media (@collierschools) for the latest information.
