As I reflect on this past year, I am inspired by the work of our students, staff, parents, and administrators, which has resulted in significant achievements. To our more than 3,400 graduates of the Class of 2024, I offer my heartfelt congratulations to you and your families! You are now officially an alumni of CCPS! Please remain engaged because your voice matters. |
As we enter the summer months, there are some important upcoming decisions and events which will have significant impact on our district schools as we move forward. |
JULY 31, 2024 - TENTATIVE BUDGET HEARING |
The School Board will hold a time-certain Tentative Budget Hearing at 5:05pm. |
SEPTEMBER 10, 2024 - FINAL BUDGET HEARING |
The School Board will hold a time-certain Final Budget Hearing at 5:05pm. Decisions made at these meetings determine funding for schools, salaries, programs offered, and levels of support for students. All Regular School Board Meetings, including Budget Hearings, are streamed live via the District website, and members of the public are always welcome to attend in person to stay informed and/or address the Board on particular topics. |
AUGUST 20, 2024 - PRIMARY ELECTION |
This election year, two of the five non-partisan school board member seats will be on the ballot. These seats pertain to school board member Districts 2 and 4, which are currently held by Stephanie Lucarelli and Erick Carter, respectively. Under Florida law (FS 1001.361), the election of school board members is by districtwide vote. This means that Collier County registered voters may vote for any candidate up for election regardless of where the voter resides. The deadline for registering to vote in the Primary Election is July 22, 2024. |
PLEASE NOTE: As the candidate pool currently stands, the races for the District 2 and 4 seats will be decided and finalized on August 20, 2024. Therefore, in all likelihood, it appears that there will be no need for a subsequent vote to be held for these positions during the November 5, 2024, General Election. |
NOVEMBER 5, 2024 - GENERAL ELECTION |
CCPS has requested to place a continuation of the tax-neutral referendum on the ballot to recruit, support, and retain the high-quality staff who make CCPS a high-performing school district. These funds will also assist in maintaining and enhancing extracurricular programming for all students. This is timely because the current referendum expires in June of 2025. The referendum provides our School Board the flexibility to continue to shift up to $60 million per year from the Capital Budget to the Operating Budget for the next four years. |

Throughout the summer, I encourage families to take advantage of learning activities for all grade levels, including pre-kindergarten. Below are links to just some of the opportunities:

For students who will return in August, stay curious throughout the summer whether through reading, engaging in a hobby, or volunteering. |
Thank you all for a wonderful first full year as your superintendent of schools. I could not do this job—in the county I care so much about—without your support. I wish you all a rejuvenating and engaging summer break full of new experiences and lasting memories. |

Sincerely, |
