As a high performing school district, Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) offers a wide range of opportunities for students to participate in advanced studies courses at the high school level. The Advanced Placement (AP) program offers students an opportunity to study a subject in greater depth, complete college-level courses, and potentially earn college credit while still in high school. Students enrolled in AP courses take a corresponding examination designed to measure the full range and depth of each student’s knowledge in the tested area.

Research supports the academic benefits for students participating in rigorous course work and CCPS has continued to grow student enrollment in AP courses as part of the District’s efforts to ensure students are college and career ready. We are proud of the following results:

• CCPS continued to increase the number of AP exams administered, with 5,458 exams in Spring 2024 as compared to 4,764 exams in Spring 2023.  
• In addition to the increase in participation rates is a notable increase in the percent of students earning a level 3 or better at 72% in 2024 up from 67% in 2023.  
• CCPS introduced a new AP Pre-calculus course in 2024, with 427 students taking the exam and 74.2% earning a score of 3 or higher.
