Golden Gate High School Principal Joe Mikulski Named Florida’s Principal of the Year
Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) is proud to announce that Golden Gate High School Principal Joe Mikulski has been named Florida’s 2025 Principal of the Year as the recipient of the Florida Department of Education’s Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership.
Established in 1988, this prestigious statewide honor recognizes principals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, promote student success, foster inclusive and supportive learning environments, and build strong partnerships with families and the broader school community. Each school district across Florida nominates one principal for consideration, and from those nominations, one is selected as the statewide winner. This year, that distinguished leader is Principal Mikulski.
With 29 years of experience in education and 20 of those years proudly serving in Collier County Public Schools, Mr. Mikulski has made a lasting impact on students, staff, and the community. Under his leadership, Golden Gate High School has achieved an A-rating—an accomplishment that reflects the collective dedication of the entire Titans community. His thoughtful, student-centered approach continues to shape a positive and inclusive school culture focused on growth and success.
Following a surprise schoolwide celebration in the courtyard earlier today, Principal Mikulski reflected on the honor:
“It’s the greatest job in the world; I wouldn’t trade it for anything. If we think about influential people in our lives, we’re always going to think about someone in our church or someone in our school, and maybe my name will be mentioned one day to future students.”
Superintendent Dr. Leslie Ricciardelli, who was present for the official announcement in Orlando, also shared her thoughts:
“Known for his thoughtful approach, deep commitment to student success, and genuine care for staff and families, Mr. Mikulski has made Golden Gate High School a place where everyone feels supported, seen, and inspired to grow. Elevating Golden Gate High to an A rating has taken a collective effort. This award is one in which the entire Titans community may all take pride. Please join us in celebrating this incredible achievement.”
Mr. Mikulski will be formally recognized by the Collier County School Board during the Regular School Board Meeting on May 14, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Administrative Center in Naples.
CCPS extends its heartfelt congratulations to Principal Mikulski and the entire Golden Gate High School staff for this well-deserved recognition. We are #CCPSProud.
