Immokalee High School BETA Club wins at Nationals

Congratulations to the Immokalee High School BETA Club on another successful National showing. The 37th annual National BETA Club Convention was recently held in Orlando at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. It was the largest BETA to date, with over 495 clubs competing and 8,000 in attendance. The theme was 'Above and Beyond' and the 64 BETAs who competed certainly lived up to those words.

The IHS BETAs placed in the following categories:

  • Campaign Skit (Grand Champion)
  • Banner – Meeting of the Minds (Top 10)
  • Spanish Division 2 – Nelly Sanchez (Top 10)
  • Scrapbook (5th)
  • Character Skit (4th)
  • Secretarial Race Campaign Skit (1st) – Chrissy Perez
  • Service to School and Community (4th)

In addition to the many awards, 2017 graduate, Isaac Alonso, was recognized at the convention as a John W. Harris Leadership semifinalist.

IHS BETA and Florida State BETA Secretary Chrissy Perez will be attending the National BETA Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. later this month.

The club would like to thank all of the staff and parents who attended with them. “We would not be able to accomplish what we have without the support of Dr. Patton, the school board, Immokalee High School  administration, staff, and students, and above all the generous people in our community who went above and beyond to make sure we had the opportunity to compete,” says club sponsor, Linda Ayer. “Many thanks! We are Immokalee BETA!”
