Potential Tropical Cyclone One - Update #1

POTENTIAL TROPICAL CYCLONE ONE

UPDATE #1

Friday, June 3, 2022

Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) is actively monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone One very closely. The National Weather Service in Miami has informed us that Collier County is forecasted to sustain Tropical Storm force winds (greater than 39mph). The storm’s effects could bring heavy rain, potential flooding, and sustained Tropical Storm force winds to our area on Friday evening into Saturday. If this was a regular school day, CCPS would be cancelling school due to the fact that buses are statutorily not permitted to run with sustained winds higher than 35mph. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, all school and district sites within Collier County Public Schools will be CLOSED tomorrow (Saturday, June 4, 2022).

  • SAT administration scheduled for June 4 has been canceled. There will be a make-up session on June 18. Students will receive an email directly from College Board with the option to accept the make-up session or to request a refund. Please contact your school with any questions

  • All athletic practices will be canceled

  • All District leases will be suspended

CCPS school and district sites are expected to continue normal operations on Sunday, June 5, 2022.

CCPS will continue to monitor the storm's path and collaborate with the Collier County Bureau of Emergency Management for the latest information regarding potential storm impacts.

Please stay safe and monitor our communication channels for additional updates.

Continue to follow us on our District website (collierschools.com) and on social media (@collierschools) for the latest information.
