Sunni Bembry, iTECH Glades CNA student
iTECH is proud to share the inspiring story of our student, Sunni Bembry, a CNA student at iTECH Glades. Sunni initially pursued a career in horse care, but when she realized it wouldn't provide a sustainable living, nursing instructor Nancy Steubur introduced her to the nursing field.
Although Sunni was hesitant at first, her desire for a stable career motivated her to enroll in the CNA course at iTECH Glades in June 2024.
As a single mother of two young boys, Sunni's commitment to providing a good life for her family drove her to overcome various obstacles in her education. Facing challenges such as transportation issues, fuel costs, and wear and tear on her vehicle, Sunni and Ms. Steubur agreed to carpool to iTECH Glades together.
Sunni quickly demonstrated her dedication as an exceptional student, often completing her assignments ahead of schedule to account for any disruptions in her life. Unfortunately, life did throw some challenges her way; she suffered a back injury after falling down a dangerous set of steps in her rented trailer, causing her to miss several days of school.
Thankfully, her advance work allowed her to stay on track with her studies. Sunni is known for her polite demeanor and determination, treating everyone with kindness and a smile. During her clinicals, she was paired with a conscientious CNA who taught her to perform her duties correctly. The clinical site was so impressed with Sunni that they expressed interest in hiring her immediately.
When the time came to take the Board of Nursing exam, Sunni faced additional challenges, including Hurricane Milton, which caused her exam to be rescheduled multiple times. Eventually, she was able to take the exam and passed!
We are thrilled to announce that Sunni is the first CNA student to graduate from iTECH Glades. Congratulations, Sunni! Currently, she works a few hours a day caring for an elderly gentleman through his long-term care insurance, allowing her to be available for her children after school.
