Dear Parents/Guardians,
Tommie Barfield continues to work on educating our students and staff about bike safety here on Marco Island. There has been a rising concern from parents, staff, and community members about the use of electric bikes, scooters, and overall bike safety. Electronic bikes seem to be trending with many of our elementary and middle-school aged students. The increased use of these bikes has caused concern among the community for both student and driver safety.
Please know we spent time speaking to all students on the news today regarding bike safety and overall awareness of various modes of transportation. We ask that you speak with your child about proper safety protocols as well. TBE's goal is to work together with parents and community members to build awareness and ensure our students stay staff while traveling around the island.
Below is an information sheet from Marco Island Police Department regarding the use of electronic bikes.
We appreciate your support and effort in ensuring the continued safety of our students.
Sincerley,
Alyssa Ledbetter

Our students and staff are proud to announce that TBE has officially been named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. This certification has been something we have worked on all year and are extremely proud of our student leaders and their success in learning and applying the 7 Habits. Becoming a Lighthouse School represents exemplary implementation of this leadership model and demonstrates outstanding results in school and student outcomes. We are proud of the extraordinary impact the Leader in Me has had on our students, staff, families, and the greater community.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we create lifelong learners and leaders.
Proud to be...TBE!

Message from Principal Alyssa Ledbetter
Welcome to Tommie Barfield Elementary School, where our students are Respectful, Responsible, Leaders! It is an honor to be the principal of this historic school with such dedicated students, staff, parents, and community members. Nestled in the center of beautiful Marco Island, Tommie Barfield Elementary stands as a Leader in Me School where our students learn and practice The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Each day, our students are provided opportunities to lead around campus. TBE teachers and staff take initiative in leading by example, and continuously work to deliver engaging instruction in a positive learning environment. Our long standing traditions offer unique experiences and opportunities for all students and families! There are several ways to support our school, such as joining our School Advisory Council (SAC), Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), or volunteering!
