National Junior Honor Society

An organization of students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship, and service. The PRMS chapter of NJHS is involved with community service projects within the community, fund-raising activities at school and in the community, and special events at school to build school spirit and a sense of togetherness.
Criteria:
LEADERSHIP
- Demonstrates leadership in promoting school activities
- Successfully holds school offices or positions of responsibility
- Exerts leadership which positively influences others
SERVICE
- Renders worthwhile services to the school
- Performs committee work
- Represents the school in inter-class or inter-school competition
- Shows courtesy by assisting teachers, visitors, and students
CHARACTER
- Promptly meets individual pledges and responsibilities to school and teachers
- Demonstrates highest standards of attitude toward honesty and reliability
- Constantly demonstrates desirable qualities of personality (cheerfulness, friendliness, neatness, poise, and stability)
- Complies with school regulations (follows regulations concerning books, property, program, office, halls, and lockers)
- Upholds principles of morality and ethics
CITIZENSHIP
- Respects the local, state, and national forms of American government
- Demonstrates civic involvement
National Junior Honor Society membership at Pine Ridge Middle School is determined by the cumulative GPA of current 7th grade students and students who meet the above criteria. The GPA will be calculated on the four quarters in Grade 6 and the first three quarters of Grade 7 and must be 3.75 or higher. Applications will be sent out at the beginning of the 4th quarter. If students successfully complete the application process, they will be attending an induction ceremony in the Spring.

Some of the activities in which the students have participated in the past include the following: Adopt a Family, Guatemala City Dump Project, Winter Dance, Heart Walk, Relay for Life, Toys for Tots, Kiss a Bullfrog Contest, End of the Year 8th Grade Dance, reading and working with elementary children in Immokalee.
